WHY: To spend the weekend making friends, sharing our stories, growing in faith and having fun!
The New Beginnings weekend event is designed especially to respond to the unique challenges and concerns of youth in grades 6 to 8. It was created by adults and young people to help participants grow in their love of themselves, others and our Lord Jesus Christ.
What is New Beginnings?
Registrationis from 6:30-7:15 p.m. on Friday at Dayspring Conference Center at the Program Center. The New Beginnings event begins at 7:15p.m. on Friday and closing Eucharist begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Friends and family are encouraged to attend the closing Eucharist.
The $100 fee includes all meals and lodging at DaySpring.
The grounds of DaySpring are open to participants, who not only come for the fellowship but also to enjoy DaySpring’s setting on the Manatee River. During the weekend, participants meet peers from across the region, enjoy skits, listen to talks, and participate in small group activities and discussions. These activities focus on friends, parents, siblings, school, God’s love, prayer and the church. Free time is built in for youth and sponsors to have an opportunity to be in fellowship with their newfound friends. A highlight is Holy Eucharist at St. Thomas Chapel.
Participants of New Beginnings may attend as many weekends as they choose throughout their middle school years. Participants have a sponsor(s) from their parish that will attend the weekend with them. Participants without a sponsor may be placed on a waitlist until we can have a conversation with the parish to assure adult support. If it is not possible to find an adult sponsor, the remaining participants on the waitlist will be notified of their ability to attend based on registration numbers promptly following the registration deadline. Adult sponsors must be SGP certified and complete a diocesan background check. Each parish that sends more than five participants may send more than one adult.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church was established in Tampa in 1871. Its first service was held in the hospital building at Fort Brooke. A wooden church was erected in 1883 on the city block bounded by Marion, Twiggs, Morgan, and Madison.
