The Diocese of Southwest Florida is holding its fourth annual Acolyte Festival at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017
The event is open to acolytes of any age, as well as vergers, clergy, acolyte wardens, assisting friends and anyone wanting to attend the service on Saturday. It is free and includes breakfast and lunch.
Doors and registration open at 8 a.m. Continental breakfast is offered from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. After morning sessions and lunch, all acolyte teams will vest in their parish acolyte vestments and carry their own equipment, displaying a number of parish-specific banners in the Cathedral.
The service preparation will begin with a vesting and a procession of all acolyte teams and their banners, flags, torches and thuribles. The Holy Eucharist service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Clergy are invited to vest and process with their acolyte teams, and the liturgical color for the day is WHITE.
