Enjoying the food, silent and live auctions, and program

St. Andrew’s was again an “Ensign” sponsor at the Port Tampa Bay’s annual Anchor Ball held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Port’s Cruise Terminal 6. Proceeds from the Ball benefit Tampa Port Ministries (TPM) and the Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation.

TPM provides social, communication and spiritual opportunities to foreign seafarers visiting the Port, as well as local employees and truck drivers entering the Port. St. Andrew’s was one of the first local churches supporting TPM many years ago and Parishioner Peter Baker has served on the Board of TPM for over 15 years.

The Foundation provides scholarships for Hillsborough County senior high students who want to pursue careers in the maritime industry and creates local internships and other learning opportunities. This year Peter and Irene Baker were joined by John and Pat Wolfe, Ben and Jeannie Borsch, and Walter and Karen Joseph from St. Andrews, and by Don and Carol Harding, who we hope will begin attending St. Andrews.

Everyone at the table “won” at least one Silent Auction bid!

Anyone interested in learning more about TPM or the Foundation or who might like to attend the Anchor Ball in 2018 should contact Peter Baker or the Church Office.
